I received an Aerie gift card as a part of my relationship with the
Quality Blue Community. All opinions expressed are my own.
Today, I'm Going to Get Real
Aerie Real, that is. It's time for a Friday pick-me-up.
If you haven't already heard about the Real campaign, I'll give you the scoop.
It is essentially a movement to get women- young and old- to feel comfortable in their
own skin and genuinely love the body that they occupy. Aerie wants to prove that women are
flawless in everyday life and that they do not need an airbrushed photo to look
glamorous. Natural beauty trumps all.
When I learned about Aerie's effort to empower women and communicate that there is no
need to retouch beauty, I fell even more in love with the brand because of the mission. As many of you
know, I run alongside a team of women at Sweet Note Bakery, and we too have a mission to make
women feel bold and confident in their everyday actions (see red lipstick). Just like we are rocking the red lips to debunk the whole "I can't pull off red lipstick" excuse, Aerie is debunking the "I'm not beautiful enough" excuse. Aerie wants to give young women of all shapes and sizes the chance to discover styles that work best for them without the burden of body image. Victoria's Secret, I love you and all, but
sometimes you hinder the lens that women see through.
Not everyone is thin. Not everyone has the perfect breast size. Not everyone has the unblemished skin.
It's about time that a brand with a lot of social power stands up and makes a bit of noise.
It's about time that lingerie is revolutionized. It's about time for women to feel confident again.
And with that said, I picked to a few Aerie items that make me feel comfortable
when wearing them: a loose boyfriend tee for the days when I don't want to wear a bra, comfy,
yet cute crochet shorts for those lazy, hazy summer days, and purple polka dot cheeky underwear... well,
because they're damn adorable.
Today I encourage all women, and men included, to feel confident in their own skin.
Rock it. Own it. Love it. Because you owe it to yourself to. <3
Cheers to the weekend, everyone! I'm heading to CHICAGO!
Sweet Note is branching out to the Midwest. Yay!
What do you do to make yourself feel bolder? How do you build self-confidence?
