My little chicken wings are getting there!
So as you all know, I'm a total fitness junkie. From the workout aspect of it, to the nutrition aspect, I absolutely love it all! It gives me something to look forward to daily, but it also gives me an opportunity to push myself past my limits. Isn't it a great feeling when you achieve something that you thought you couldn't do both physically and mentally?
So I've Been Looking for New Workouts
I always look for ways to include new exercises and new routines into my daily fitness plans. I try to avoid doing the same ol' thing over and over again in order to avoid plateaus and motivation loss! Those two are certainly no bueno, especially if they come in a pair!
With that Being Said...
I have been looking for new workouts that involve group activities. I always feel much more motivated when I'm in a class or a gym full of other people who are working towards the same goal.
I've tried Zumba, which is a CRAZY fun way to get your heart rate up and a nice sweat in. It's essentially a Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness fiesta! I definitely recommend that you check it out if you love fitness classes and love to dance. I honestly am not too great at dancing myself, but I decided to give it a shot with one of my girlfriends. I can tell you this: I didn't know my booty was capable of shaking so many different ways!
I've taken a yoga class. I think the reason why I didn't enjoy yoga as much is because I didn't really get the full experience. I know that yoga is a practice that you certainly have to get used to and do often in order to maximize your own benefit.
I, however, plan on giving yoga a second shot this upcoming summer! I'm so excited for the grand opening of a HOT YOGA studio that is located only 5 minutes from my college campus. For those of you who are unfamiliar with hot yoga, it is simply a yoga class taken to an extreme level. This class is performed under hot conditions and is meant to increase an individual's flexibility in each pose. For a girl who is always engaging in some type of strenuous physical activity, this is certainly a great way to allow my body to relax and recover.
I've taken a spin class. Because I adore biking (both indoors and outdoors), I decided to take advantage of my gym's membership freebie and participate in a spin class. The class itself was very motivating, but that was all because of the instructor. She was barking all kinds of random stuff at us during the entire class! It was actually a great distraction from the pain that my legs were experiencing. My quads and hammies were on FIRE! I definitely cranked the resistance level on my bike a little too much.
Now All of these Classes Have Me Thinking
I would really love to give a new kind of workout a shot and take on another group fitness class.
Workout gear makes me a happy camper!
I mean I have to put my crazy lady workout pants to good use, right?! ;)
I was really considering a certain workout that is currently sweeping the fitness junkie nation. I'm seeing it pop up everywhere! I have heard a lot of great reviews about it, but I'll be honest, I am very hesitant to join.
Did anyone ever give CrossFit a try? I am currently looking for a local place to drop into and observe an INTERMEDIATE (much emphasis) class in order to see what I really want to get myself into. I heard that these classes aren't easy, but I'm definitely willing to give them a shot. Like I said in my post last week, Rome wasn't built overnight. I'm not going to become a CrossFit beast over night either! Although I'm nervous, I'm up for the challenge. The high-intensity movement will definitely be the change of pace that I am looking for.
I'm really hoping to find a CrossFit facility in my neck of the woods and also hoping to find a CrossFit workout partner to try it out with! New experiences like these just aren't as fun when you're flying solo!
How do you switch up your daily fitness plans?
Did you ever try CrossFit?
