Just a bunch of random things for you today. I went a little heavy on the
posting this week, but that's nothing out of the ordinary. :)
Thank Goodness it's Friday!
1. Recipe Reveal
Quinoa is such a versatile base! I cooked up a huge, plain batch of it to cool in the fridge overnight so that I can have it on-hand at any time of the day! I made this recipe savory, but I think I'm going to make a sweet quinoa power bowl like this one sometime soon.
Quinoa Power Bowl
By: Brittany @ FreckledNettles
Prep Time: 8-10 minutes
Keywords: vegetarian, gluten-free, high-protein
Directions: In medium-sized bowl, mix quinoa and veggies together, keep avocado and tofu on the side. In a separate small bowl, combine dressing ingredients together. Mix well. Top quinoa base with tofu, dressing, and slices of avocado. Sprinkle pinch of pepper on top! Enjoy!
2. Fab Summer Finds
3. Planet Fitness Broke out the crazy pants!
I switched from Retro Fitness to Planet Fitness this past week. My family and I moved into a new house, which means moving into a new local gym as well! To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I was so comfortable with Retro, so it's going to take some time to readjust. In comparison to Retro, Planet Fitness comes with so many more perks with a Black Card:
I'm not much of a tanner (so afraid of UV lights because of my freckles), but I know I will be taking full advantage of the massages and training!
4. The Great Gatsby
Ryan and I (or more like I) have been waiting to see The Great Gatsby! When it comes to reading, I'm a big fan of the classics. Gatsby is certainly one of my favorite titles! The movie was awesome, and Leo DiCaprio was looking more handsome than ever!
5. Delicious Desserts
A local dessert vendor makes a delicious fruit pie that is perfect for the summer time! Fran's pies are 110% all-natural and made up from two ingredients: bananas and organic chocolate chips! This pie, however, had strawberries mixed into it as well. As you can see, my dad and I loved it! I enjoyed my freeze as a post-workout snack with some almond butter drizzled on top of it.
So that wraps up my slew of random things. Thanks again, Clare @ Fitting it All In, for lending me the idea of "5 Things Friday!" I hope everyone enjoys the start of their weekends. To all of my friends at the 2013 Blend Retreat, enjoy yourselves and have a wonderful time! I can't wait to see pictures and hear about the goody bags you get. I'm hoping that one year I will be able to attend a Blend Retreat of my own!
