Shout out to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons for hosting, yet another, What I Ate Wednesday! I can't wait to begin participating every week!
So basically, WIAW is a healthy way to share what you have eaten with others who are passionate about healthy eating! It's a way to network with other bloggers and get some new meal inspiration too! From simple and generic to crazy combinations, WIAW is a chance to discover new ways of eating and having fun while doing so!
"----What WIAW isn't about----
Comparison - Judgement - Restriction - Guilt
----What WIAW is about----
Celebrating one of the glorious things we all have in common: we all eat!"
With that being said...
Well, because I'm fairly new to this, as you all know, I'm going to make my first #WIAW a #WILTEW... WHAT I LIKE TO EAT WEDNESDAY! I didn't have the chance to capture some of my latest meals, but I'll be sure to do so for next week's post. For now, I'm just going to share with you some of my absolute favorite meals and food items. This post may be a little long. :)
I'll start off with the ever-so-divine, breakfast. It's certainly my favorite meal of the day. From oats to whole grain cereal, I love coming up with crazy concoctions It's really amazing how you can turn a bland breakfast base into a super sweet, super delicious treat without ruining the health content!
Like I previously mentioned, none of these photos are mine because I haven't captured any of my own yet. Credit to each photographer for capturing my most favorite breakfast treats!
Check out my own breakfast creations under my recipes section to get an idea of how some of my morning meals are prepared! Warning: breakfast may or may not include copious amounts of nut butters drizzled on top of oats. Consumer discretion advised :)
The ever-so-scrumptious PB&J. Let us all just take a moment to admire at that beauty of a sandwich... okay, okay, let's get back on topic!
We all have our childhood favorite foods. Mine just happened to be PB&J. However, my fav childhood food turned into a fav teenage food, and then proceeded to turn into an fav adult food. Am I the only one that happened to? Over the past four years at least, I have had this combination every day for lunch (yes, all of my high school friends can attest to that). Nonetheless, I realized that I may or may not have a problem and I have admitted myself to PBJA (peanut butter and jell-aholics anonymous). I have broken up with the sandwich (*tear*). As an adult, I need to learn that there is life beyond this particular lunch option.
My new favorite lunch meal is even more simple: sweet potatoes! No, I do not just eat them plain. I actually get rather creative them. Give me cottage cheese, any nut butter (or coconut butter), honey, and cinnamon, and I can whip you up the strangest, but most delicious lunch! You will learn that #strangebutdelicious is popular amongst many bloggers. We may come up with crazy combos, but hey... we're having fun with our food!
Just a little peek into my tiny dorm fridge!
Snack time. Yeah, it never gets old. I like to switch up my snacks daily, but for the most part I repeat snacks because they're just so great! I'll just provide a list of my personal favorites. Feel free to do some more research on them and possibly try them out yourself!
Snacks: Greek yogurt, QuestBars, almond milk protein smoothies, rice cakes (topped with all kinds of sweet things such as cottage cheese, nut butters, coconut shreds, etc.), chia seed pudding, mixed nuts, fruits, veggies, and more.
My mom and I look forward to Sushi Sundays
And last but not least, dinner! Although I was a fairly picky eater growing up, I am now the total opposite. I love, love, love trying new cuisines and trying different flavors! Generic restaurants just do not cut it for me anymore. I'm a food brat, I know. :)
With that being said, some of my favorite International Cuisines are Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican. I won't lie, I was extremely skeptical of trying each dish at first. Wouldn't you be a little hesitant too if you had to try something other than your usual chicken fingers and french fries (AKA my absolute favorite dinner when I wasn't a veg-head)? Now I am a complete foodie, and sometimes my family and friends just do not know what to do with me. My boyfriend and I, for example, will literally debate our dinner plans for hours because we can never mutually agree on a place or food. Fortunately we are both very good at compromising. :)
Nevertheless, I give you: my favorite dinners! And yes, I'm going to credit moi for these pictures. I snapped them myself when I was traveling in Germany this past March! I did so much food tasting during my trip. My apologies if I make your tummy start to rumble. :)
So that just about wraps up #WILTEW. Although this post doesn't cover every single thing that I enjoy eating, I hope that did did give you a bit of insight into what I eat on the daily. Check out my blog next week for a real recap of my foodie eats and treats for Peas and Crayons' #WIAW.
P.S. I conquered my Chemistry exam, Stats class, and now I'm off to learn Espanol. I have my interview at 3:30 today with Whole Foods! Eep. I'm so excited. Wish me luck! xoxo
