Good morning and Happy Sunday, fit-friends and family! How is everyone's weekend going so far? Anything interesting going on? I know that here in my hometown, we have a monumental event kicking off at 8:30 this morning: the 34th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run!
I want to wish all of my friends who are participating in today's event a very safe and very successful race. I know that Boston's horrific events are still relatively fresh to some, but don't let them paralyze you and stop you from crossing the finish line. You trained hard for today. Stay strong for Boston!
Unfortunately, I have never participated in the Broad Street Run, so I personally don't know how challenging today's race will be. I remember in middle school, running Broad Street was one of the "cool" things to do, so I always had the opportunity to watch some of my closest friends train for it; I just never had the courage to step up to the challenge myself. However, I finally mustered up the courage to participate in my first race! Thank you to all of the passionate runners out there for inspiring me!
I committed myself to a life of health and happiness. I want to commit to the challenge of running races and marathons as well.
I've decided to start out with a more "fun-run" than a more serious and challenging one. I'm taking baby steps! This coming June, I will be running in my first 5k! Want to know the best part about it? I get to bust out the crazy clothes because it's a Color Me Rad run! I'm thinking a new DIY white workout tee, white compression shorts, and a white tutu. Hey, I might as well go all out! This thing is my BFF when squatting!
I'm hoping that the workouts I am doing now will prepare me for the race. My weekly training usually looks something like this:
Is there anything else that I should be doing in order to prepare? I would love advice from my fellow runners!
I Can't Wait to Run!
And now for a little weekend recap (I'll save the better things for tomorrow's MIMM post)!
Spent some time on-campus
And spent some time in actual clothing! I do own non-fitness attire!
And hopefully, tonight I will be able to put the cherry on top of my weekend and satisfy my craving for a coconut curry! Ever since my trip to Germany this past March, I have been hooked on all kinds of Indian cuisines (as I have probably mentioned a zillion times already :p)!
To the left is Amrit Lounge, which is the Indian restaurant that I dined in while visiting the UK. If only I could just hop on a plane, go there for dinner, and be back in time for my final exam tomorrow *sigh.*
I'm crossing my fingers that I will be able to include a delicious Indian dish in tomorrow's MIMM post! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Have you ever participated in a race or marathon? Do you have any tips or suggestions for me?
Do you like Indian dishes? If so, what's your favorite?
