Spring has sprung at AU!
As you all know from yesterday's post, I'm wrapping up my semester today. I plan to take my final Biology exam at 9 AM, then I'm free for summer vacation! ☼
I'm getting a head-start on my break and kicking it off by taking a miniature getaway with a bunch of AU Students. Because we are all New Student Orientation Leaders who will be working very hard over the summer to help welcome the incoming freshman, our coordinators wanted to make sure that we had a little retreat before the summer chaos begins! Aren't they sweet?
I would tell you where we are going, but our coordinators haven't quite told us yet. So right now we are all essentially taking this trip blindfolded! They gave us a few hints by telling us what to pack (clothing for warm and cool climates, the usual toiletries, blankets, sneakers, bug spray, etc.) and by telling us that we should plan to tell our loved ones that we may be out of touch while we’re away because cell phone service may not be very reliable. They were sure to make it clear that we most likely would be enjoying other things instead of texting our boo anyway. Sorry, Ry. ;)
Where do You Think I'm Heading?
My guess is that we're heading up the Poconos or somewhere surrounding the mountains; our campus isn't too far from that area. If my guess is correct, and that is where we are going, I'll be a happy camper (literally). I'm not afraid to hang out in the wilderness once in a while. My family used to be such mountain enthusiasts, so when I was younger, we would head up and break out all of the adrenaline-pumping toys: quads, dirt bikes, all that jazz. I'm willing to channel my inner mountain girl again!
I won't be lodging in a hotel with a pool and a spa, but I will be lodging in a cabin! That beats a tent any day!
My Question for You Guys:
Have you ever "unplugged?"
I personally never took time to unplug from technology and give myself a break from social media, but I am going give it a shot and take advantage of my getaway as much as possible. It will be nice to just enjoy the trip without feeling the need to check my Instagram feed, post a Tweet, or see what's happening with all of my friends on Facebook. I know my brain will enjoy the unplugging after the stress that I put it through this week!
I know that a lot of other bloggers have truly enjoyed and appreciated their events more when they unplugged. I'm ready to enjoy the good company, good food, and good times! Bring on the mountains (if that's where we are going)!Salmon Sashimi!
I, however, will be participating in WIAW! I know that I have much to contribute, so I can't possibly miss out. Here's a little sneak-peek of what's to come. Mwahaha.
So I'm going to jet because I still have so much packing to do! I don't even know where to start! Odds are, I'm going to be the girl who shows up with one (or three) too many bags. But hey, that's what happens when you are unaware of your destination!
And one final thing: Starbucks is currently having Frappuccino Happy Hour! Be sure to drink one for me! See you tomorrow for WIAW!
Have you ever unplugged completely? What was your experience like?
